Hello,

I have Motorola SURFboard SBG6580 wifi cable modem. (purchased February 2013)

When I plug 2 Macs into the SBG6580 connected via ethernet cables, I get gigabit speeds on my LAN. That part works.

But when I try to connect via wifi, I only get about 80 M bit speeds on my LAN (even though the mac is using 802.11n mode.)

I've tried running the SBG6580 as "802.11n only" but still only get 80 M bit speeds.

Has anyone been able to achieve Gigabit speed on a wireless LAN using the Motorola SURFboard SBG6580 ?

Thanks.

While 80mb/s may be a little slow for 802.11n, you will not get gigabit speeds via WiFi.
802.11n maxes out at a theoretical 300mb/s.
