Uncertainty regarding CPU readings

Just finished building my first computer yesterday and am checking how it's all running, temps etc.. however I am unsure about some of the readings.

Readings image

**edited (to make sense)**

What's the difference between the CPU motherboard temp and the 8350 temp and why is the first once hotter? Also, If you check the attached image isn't the 8350 supposed to show the core temps.. instead it just shows this 'package temp' (the cores show in my bios). I read on one thread that the latest HWmonitor only shows the package temp instead of cores but could not confirm this. Thanks.

Solution
u should be concerned if the board itself has a good amount of heat coming off it at idle

for programs use HWinfo64/32, Coretemp, and download or use the asus utility for ur m5a97 R2 called asus AI Suite it reads and reports temps, and the asus utilities are usually always correct and accurate over other utilities, for example the phenom cpus usually read 10 degrees cooler than actual in hwmonitor, and AI suite showed correctly

That's really handy. I thought i'd installed everything from my mobo disc but hadn't installed this AI suite for some reason. I'll install it now and have another look around. That should do me for now. Thanks.

**Update - I spoke too soon. AI Suite has been a nightmare after a faulty install I can find no way to remove half of the stuff it's installed on my computer even using pro-uninstallers. It's a mess.

Well AI Suite for the newer boards install all the other features that come with the board, like monitoring, auto oc'ing, bios flash, other tools etc and AI Suite is the overall program that does all that, whereas on my am3 board AI suite is just monitoring, fan xpert, turboV, and EPU in one program, so when turned on AI Suite will turn on the other programs and run in the background, and as long as its not turned on it shouldnt be an issue, if fan xpert turned fan settings on u can disable the profiles, along with gamefirst etc

I managed to get rid of it, just wasn't happening on my computer. Using the HWinfo which is showing me everything (core activity also) though i'm still unsure about these two CPU readings? There's the ITE IT8721f CPU which is showing 35c and the fx 8350 temp which is showing around 15c. Not sure what I should be really looking at here?

Using coretemp it's showing me CPU readings in line with the 15c 8359 reading from HWinfo. Still i'm wondering what exactly the 35c is from?

**In bios it's showing me 44c cpu temp.

The ITE IT8721f is a chipset so dont think its the sensor related to the cpu temps, but 15c seems a little low for reg room temp at idle seems pretty chilly for room temp, so im going to say that 15c is wrong unless ur computer is in a 15c/60f room. Whats ur cpu cooler and of course ur room temp lol

At this point the bios temps seem more trusting but once in the OS temps would be lower because power savings features kick in and temps will be lower so the 35 seems right but doesnt seem like ur getting accurate readings but will b able to tell with more specs

More details would have been handy;

Ambient temp is around 20c. Using the stock cooler on the FX 8350 (pre applied paste) and have front and rear stock fans running on my bitfenix shinobi window case. There's no OCing going on or anything like that although I've been testing it in the living room atm and it's up near a window which has had a decent airflow.

Thanks for the continued help by the way. I'm going to be working on this full-time (and doing some gaming) so it's important everything is stable on this before I start using it properly, plus it's my first experience building so i've got nothing to go by :??:

well with the stock cooler im going to guess the fx cpus may be off by 10c as well so idle around 25ish should be fine or 30ish and around 55c under load is what i seen with a fx 8150 so ur temps seem fine. ur issue is seeing the right readouts?

Doesn't sound like anything to worry about anyway at the moment. I'm considering getting an aftermarket cooler anyway (if that doesn't sound like overkill), though i'll see as i've got one more fan coming.. but either way i'll have to leave it all for a day or two as i've just had to return my monitor and am back on the lappy. Thanks again.
