Hi everyone, i just built my computer and i'm using it as an htpc/gaming console. It's too far from the couch to use the mouse/keyboard and the wires would look messy as well. Other than buying a wireless keyboard can i use my android phone to control basic pc features such as going through files to play movies/pictures/music. Maybe starting firefox and browsing the internet? I have windows 7 and a wifi dual band adapter for it but no bluetooth adapter. My phone is running android jellybean 4.1.2.

There are a number of remote-control apps you can get, yes. Just search google play.

You will need to get a bluetooth or IR receiver to control your pc tho, unless you have a motherboard with that built in.

Erm... what? Not necessarily - a lot of remotes just use a host program installed on the computer, nothing but wifi required. I've got one on my phone that's only used to control spotify; it works a treat.

You should be able to find an app for a wifi keyboard/mouse.

Didn't know that had that, quite nice. It does kinda but you at the mercy of your wireless though. Mines a bit spotty at times.

That's for certain. Though with something like a media PC, if your wifi goes out, you're kinda SOL anyways. :p

That's why you make sure your WAP is on a mostly clear channel, is near you, and (if possible) is on the 5GHz band. It also doesn't matter if DSL drops out, only wifi.
