Porblem with the Cloned Drive(upgrading the laptop hard drive)

I just bought a new hard drive(Seagate 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive ST1000LM014) and would like to replace the laptop drive. Since I don;t have the window 7 installation disk and I don;t really wanna spent time reinstalling all the softwares; I simply cloned the drive. Unfortunately, none of the clone tools worked. The first tool that I used for cloning was Reflect, and the clone process was a succeed; however, after 2 days of normal operation this screen* appeared when I was restarting the computer(I had done some defragment using Defraggler then the computer acting wired so I restarted the computer) . So I tried other tools to clone the drive, like EaseUS Todo Backup and Clonezilla. This time it was even worst, I can't even boot into the computer and it directly leaded me to this screen* either I used EaseUS or Clonezilla. Is there something wrong that I have done? Please help.

p.s I have tried the Repairing disk, and bootrec.exe, none of them work. And the computer boot fine when using the old hard drive.

( Sorry for the delay, my Direct TV suddenly stopped working in my bedroom! ) I am not sure why your W7 is set up that way. I use windows backup on a partition I created on an external HD. I think if you don't set it up that way Windows will automatically create the space to save that backup data, but I have not seen it set similar to a boot partition in front of it! That first 260MB (OEM Partition) does not even appear to be formatted, indicated with the diagonal lines. I would think that if you simply cloned the 3rd and 4th partitions, Windows would create the its backup info in the shadow copy which you don't see, but is still part of the main OS partition. There is the possibility that your laptop manufacturer had Microsoft...

It's odd it worked for a couple days and then you had the problem! I have used reflect with no issues: from a Raptor to a Vertex2 and then from the Vertex2 to a Samsung 830. I would suspect the new Hybrid drive, being that it did work fine and then your system could not boot from it after two days. I think Seagate has a utility called Sea Tools that may be able to diagnose your drive. You will have to put it in an external enclosure to test it.

Before the start, I had done some defragment using Defraggler then the computer acting wired so I restarted the computer. Is that the cause of the problem?

I just finished the Short Drive Self Test and the Short Generic, they all passed. I did not do the long test since it will take forever.

Possibly. In general you don't defragment SSD's, but your drive is mostly a standard HD and a small, but very actively used SSD. You should see what Seagate recommends regarding defragmentation. Perhaps they have their own defrag program for their Hybrid drive. I will see what I can find out for you!

But the drive seems to work fine when it's in the closure, so the drive is not damage right? But why I can't I boot from the drive?

This is Seagate's software to clone your drive. It's called "Disk Wizard".
Clearly Seagate does NOT recommend defragmenting your Hybrid drive.
Why don't you see if the Disk Wizard will properly CLONE you drive and then remember to go into Windows and verify that Auto-defragmentation does NOT occur.

that was the very first software that I tried. It kept on asking me to reboot the computer, but after the reboot, nothing happen. And when I tried to launch the software again, the same thing happened again. It just a cycle of endless rebooting and not getting anything done, lol.

Well, if you say it worked with Reflect and then got screwed up after defrag, which Seagate says not to do, why don't you try to clone one more time with Reflect and DO NOT Defrag!!! If it still gives you problems, you should give them a call. I have called many manufacturers and in spite of the long wait times, I have had pretty good luck with them!

So I tried Reflect again last night and the hard boot ok after I fixed *these issues using the repair disc. I am not sure would the drive be unbootable again or not.

I went up and looked at the picture you provided in Disk Manager and I am seeing too many partitions before your "C" OS partition. I have one 100MB boot partition and then the "C" drive partition. I think part of the problem may be with your original drive. Oddly, you say that it does work fine, but I would guess that is causing part of the problem when you clone it. I just open "Reflect" on my system ( Samsung 830 SSD ) and I see that the 100 MB boot partition is NTFS, yours is Fat32? I am wondering how that happened?
Mine is labelled as following:
1-System Reserved (None) NTFS Active ( 25.2MB used of 100MB allotted )
2-Win 7 Pro OS (C) NTFS Primary
I am starting to get the feeling that in spite of your original C drive working, it is somehow not a typical order of setup boot/OS and file systems, fat32 and NTFS. It may be OK, but I don't know why you would have the older fat32 at all for you F drive which is only 260MB?
You appear to have a normal data partition first, except it is Fat32, and then you have the 19.12 (recovery Partition ( that I don't have!)), then you have the 260MB system partition ( which should be the boot drive) and then finally the (G) partition.
Honestly, I don't get it! Your 3rd partition seems to be the system boot partition. I am not sure why the first partition is FAT32, only 260MB in size and labelled as an OEM partition. Why isn't that your system partition and why isn't it NTFS as the (C) drive was on your original source drive?
This is a bit beyond me, I hope you do try calling Seagate and talk to someone there that can make more sense of this than I can.

lol I really not sure why the partitions were like that, but the clone software did all that stuff for me. And for the source drive, that's the original Sony setting when I bought the laptop. Yes, I will try to get in touch with Seagate and see what's up with this. By the way, thanks for the replay and everything.

so you mean the first(OEM partition) and the second(Recovery partition) partition are not required?

There is the possibility that your laptop manufacturer had Microsoft custom rearrange the functionality of your system partitions for some reason specific to your laptop.? It is not clear to me if your laptop is actually working right now, you said you fixed the three Problems and it booted OK, So if it is working OK, it is up to you, otherwise I would try cloning the last two partitions.

ok thanks for the info. The computer is working on the new hard drive now, so I don;t wanna change anything just yet. However, if it drive stop working like last time then I would try you method just by copying the 3rd and 4th partition. Thany you very much.
