I'm used to building highish-end gaming PCs that require at least 750+ watts and in that range the obvious choice is simply a popular PSU from a well-known brand that has enough wattage to satisfy the discrete graphics card(s).

However right now I'm actually building a very basic PC for the first time. It's an office PC that I'm designing and building for my parents' small business and it just needs to do... well, ordinary business stuff, and a solid multimedia experience when it's just used casually. I'm wondering what kind of wattage to look for in a PSU. There's no discrete GPU, obviously, so I know it can't be much, but I'd like to know a ballpark range.

The build:

CPU + GPU: AMD A8-5600K APU (likely to be overclocked but not overvolted)
MB: MSI A55 socket FM2 micro-ATX
HDD: 7200rpm WD Blue
RAM: 8GB 1600Mhz DDR3 1.5V
Cooling: 120mm CPU fan (Hyper 212 EVO) and 2 120mm case fans
Device: Optical Disc Drive

So what kind of wattage do I need? I don't really need much overhead or excess power because there will never be any upgrades to this PC - the original parts are all it will ever have. I'm just looking for a stable, reliable, dependable solid-quality PSU that will last 4-5 years and runs cool & quiet. That's it.

300w would be your best bet for that rig..

get yourself a fan less 400w one, I know Seasonic sells those. just make sure it gets enough air.
400w may be a little overboard but you'll be hard pressed to find a 300w or lower psu that has a good OEM

do note that power supplies run most efficient at about the 50% load mark so, don't expect it to run at it's most efficient level if you do go with a higher wattage.

edit: here's what to expect power consumption-wise a8 review
