Hi all, I am a casual gamer and a PC enthusiast (not gaming enthusiast). I want to build a decent budget gaming PC under $450, mostly for DoTA2, but will also play newer game (mid setting and small resolution on 17"). I will not OC either. I got a dillema about buying the spec. I want it asap but on the other hand , Haswell will come in just a few weeks.
For under $450,my current choice of spec is:
- i3-3210/i3-3220
- MSI ZH77-g43+ or MSI H77MA-G43 (picking this mobo because I'm not OC-ing and they got THX Tru Studio Pro)
- Corsair Memory with Head spreader
- SSD under $100 (probably corsair too)

I already got CPU Cooler (Xigmatek Nepartak) and decent PSU with 500W pure, and AMD HD 5750.

I want this build to last me a few years.

Should I buy it soon or should I wait for Haswell for the better.

But my concern is, will I get mobo that cheap with the same THX Tru Studio Pro with Haswell? or will I get to wait untill MSI make one with the same feature? I want it asap, and don't forget the price limit.

Thank you :D

Solution
you don't need wait, haswell hasn't even been released yet and the mobo's i saw coming out are high end mobo's. though, that Gfx card is quite old.. and since you aren't OCing you wont need a CPU cooler and you won't need the SSD right now. so get a better card if you want to last it for a few years. a HD 7750/7770 should fill your needs. you then after saving some cash you can buy a SSD

thanks for the quick reply :D
Me too think that I don't need the SSD right now and my graphic card is too old. Your advice is too good I think, but I will wait around and get some other opinions from others.

I forgot to add, my current PC Spec all use AM2+ socket, I got 3 mobos like that from m-atx to a decent gaming board one. All now fail to detect a SATA HDD, but working fine with IDE HDD. I got a friend who got the same problem too with AM2+ board. When I connect it to Intel based board or newer AM3 board, the HDD works fine. So that's why I wanna buy a SSD, cause I already bought 3 HDD SATA 2 and all failed to be detected by those 3 mobos. I assume if I use SATA 3 HDD or SSD it will work or at least won't have the same problem with the new rig I'm planning to buy after a couple of years. FYI, my current PC already 7 yrs old, and I want my new rig to last for a couple of years
but maybe not that long. After I buy the new rig, I'm gonna save my money for other things like buying a house or car or something grand. So Iwanna have a rig that last without the same problem.
My new question is, will my spec of choice (or if I follow ur advice and getting a HDD) will last long and not having the same HDD problem?

thats a strange problem you had.your HDD's worked in your friends PC but not on your PC, even with 3 mobo's... i guess thats a problem with AM2+ socket or something. but nonetheless you shouldn't have a problem with this new build.it will last for atleast 5 years for gaming.

Thanks again for your reply :D

Now my mind is set to buy this new rig by the end of the month (payday :D).

Probably won't buy the SSD cause I wanna test my 3 HDD SATA 2 that i already have.

if it will really last 5 years, by then I will buy the top tier specs so I can compete with most of the guys here. lol

well not exactly 5 years but 3 years atleast if you wanna play in high res @ high settings. get a beefier GPU like 7850 if you want it to last 5 years for hard gaming ;)

yes with 7850 and my current 17' monitor I'm confident it will last 5-6 years. :D

will probably buy the rig this month and new GPU and SSD next month. thanks for the solution :D

yeah try to buy the CPU mobo and case this month as i doubt there will be any more price cuts but get the GPU first. wait for the GF 700 series if it releases next month. might put a lower price tag on the radeon HD 7850.

alright, so I'll buy the CPU, mobo and memory this month, SSD next month, and GPU will wait for GF 700 series. Thanks :D
