Mouse wire rubbing on edge of desk and making noise. Any easy solutions?

I purchased a new computer desk about a month ago and have noticed that with this new desk, as I move my mouse around, the wire slides across the back edge of the desk and makes noise from the wire dragging across that edge. This bothers me (i'm picky, i know). Any ideas on how to quiet this noise in a way that doesn't look ugly?
I don't want to stick anything on the desk but I could possibly wrap the mouse cord section that rubs with something. Don't know what though.

Any ideas?

what type of mouse cable is it? is it like my Razer mouse that has the rough braided cable?

cause you could always use ducttape or electrical tape, bot are rather smooth, and would result is a quieter sound.

My mouse is a Coolermaster Storm Xornet. The cord is not braided, just regular rubber. I'll give electrical tape a try and see if that helps, not sure it will much though.
