My build is in my signiture so please refer there. Right now i know my I3 is bottlenecking my 7950 but my question is if i buy a i5 3570k and dont overclock (for the moment i will later but not for a while) will it take away the stutering and increase frame rates? Enough to make the cost ($210) worth it? I am on a budget so i only want to buy it if it is worth while.

Solution
I just bought a 7870xt and I'm waiting for it to arrive. I plan on sticking it in with an i3-2120. Yes it will be bottlenecked like your 7950 and from looking at benchmarks etc an i5 should give both of us around a 10-15fps in GPU dependent games which will only increase in more CPU bound games.

Also, more and more games are utilizing 4 cores which will only increase benefits further, I'd say it was worth it. I plan on going to an i5 in a month or two.
Absolutely nothing to worry about at all they will work perfectly together

EDIT

I clearly missed the I3 part.

Honestly when overclocked the 7850 @ 1150Mhz core is bottlenecked by a I3 3220 vs a core 2 Quad @ 3.6 The I3 will be a point of concern, the performance difference was about 1100 3rd mark points.
Sorry you will be able to get good frame rates but they will not be as consistant.
This is some testing I had done on my own and trust me if the 7850 is a problem for the I3 the 7950 will be unfortunately bottlenecked .

Tom's just did an article on this.

As you can see while your 3220 isn't on there, the similar 3225 is. And its not that far under the 3570k. At stock clocks anyways. It's bottlenecked a bit, but probably not worth the $200+.

Thanks misterm that's what i figured from my research i just didnt want to spend that much money and not be sure. I play every popular game: crysis trilogy, assassins creed, battlefield, batman, etc. I play @ 1080p most of the time. I used to play @ 1050p but switched to my tv. Don't know how i forgot to give that info as thats what i always ask first...

I read that and thats what made me ask the question. For just 6-7 fps its not worth it but i have stuttering which makes me have to knock settings down to a mix of high and medium on crysis 3 just to get 40 fps playable and then it still stutters every few minutes

STONED

Clearly I read that wrong,

But from experience with that/similar CPU I can not figure out how that it could possibly pull 60 frames average, I just don't believe it.

My bad 47XXXXXX

Large gaps? The delta between the min and ave is similar for both the 3225 and 3570k. About 25FPS. Not sure what you were going with there.

There were other settings for Crysis three but they put more of a load on the GPU and we are talking CPU here. I'm not sure where a stutter might come from on your machine. Only thing that comes to mind is if your "1TB hdd" is a green drive. Or if you have a heat issue or something like that. Make sure your machine is clean (virus included.) and check your temps, etc. It might be your I3 isn't up to handling Crysis on high. Do all games do it?

My 1tb drive is a 5400rpm but that would only effect loading times right? I would love if im wrong but during gameplay there would not be any difference between this and a solid state. What i have is once every few minutes or, on more demanding games like crysis 3 with settings high enough, every few seconds it takes like a 8th-quarter second to load a frame (so the game just kinda freezes for a second then pops back but fraps shows no difference) which is really frustrating so i just turn the settings down but it still sometimes does it even in batman arkham medium settings no aa and crysis 3 any settings. Idk if i explained it right but thats the main thing i want to fix. My gpu is icy cool too it maxs out on furmark at 67c or so. My cpu never goes above 60c if my memory serves me right and normally stays in the 40s
