Are you sure your tv works with an external harddrives? Quite a few older ones only work with flash drives on the usb.
Another thought, since you use a MAC, is the format of the drive. You should make sure its in FAT32 format to work with both MAC and PC environments. The TV is probably fat/fat32 capable.

thank you, I haven't checked the format. How would I make it compatible with both? The movies were originally downloaded by a friend with windows, but they made the passport readable only so I had to redownload to the passport. Now it's only watchable on my computer.
The tv is new and has two usb ports for 1 and 2. It just says the usb memory is disconnected.

Mac should be able to read/write ntfs, exfat, and fat32 (as well as the mac formats)

What i dont know is what format your tv needs . I would try ntfs first actually. exfat is newer.

Be sure to copy your stuff to the mac before you start, we dont want you loosing anything.
