Hi folks.

I was just about to put through my purchase of a brand new HD7870 when I thought I had better check to make sure it will fit in my case.

My case is a Templar Micro ATX Black Interior Mesh Case 500W 12cm Black PSU http://www.aone.co.uk/ProdInfo.ASP?ProductID=3369 (upgraded to 650w)

I currently have a hd6670 in but its just not nearly good enough.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2 http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3645#ov

Now I have four slots at the back, the hd6670 is mounted to the top in a single slot. If I were to purchase the hd7870 it wouldn't fit as its fan takes another slot above which I don't have.

My question is, does my set up limit me to only low profile single slot cards or is there anyway of re arranging and making room for the hd7870 or possibly purchasing a new case that will leave me room?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

Solution
Yea, the first slot is occupied by the card plugging in, the second is the cooler. The fan faces the floor of the case.

Should all work fine provided your CPU is decent.

Really? If so, this is quite possibly the stupidest question in Tom's hardware history. Perhaps it is just the image of the 7870 that is throwing me off? It shows the bracket with the fans above the hdmi, dvi etc slots.

Are the pins on the right of this bracket (with the fan pointing up) if so it should fit ok right?

I have the space length/width wise, would there be any other reason this card might be a problem?

Thanks for your time :)

Brilliant, thanks for your help. I'll go ahead and purchase the HD7870 then. For some reason I was led to believe I could only fit single slot low profile cards due to the Micro Case + Micro ATX is there any truth to this or can I realistically fit most cards on the market?

The CPU is an AMD FX4100. Not great but enough to do the job.

Thanks again.

Anyone else able to answer my last question? Would clear up a lot of confusion for me.
What does/doesn't my mb/case restrict me to? Is it a low profile case or can I fit most gpu's bar a crossfire set up obviously.

Thanks :)
