How much and how should i put on Thermal grease?

hey ya i got a hyper 212 evo that i'm going to put on my cpu


i was looking at a blog and it says i should use an xshape to reduce air bubbles and make sure the paste gets evenly spread across the chip as rice size portions of grease actually didn't cover the whole chip. anyways what is the best way to put the compound on for a newb without putting too much on(which i usually tend to do hehe)

This, I've tried several ways myself, but this is my favorite, a pea-size is effective, or manually spreading the paste yourself, but can be messy if your not careful.

since i had trouble getting them mount bars on i ended up (found out they only go in one way or the screws will be lopsidded) just ended up pea sizing it then lifting it off and spreading it out. also squirted just a bit more on the spots the compound didnt get to. i think amazon also sent me the paste instead of the grease that i ordered as it's pretty thick and doesn't spread like the other compound that i lost but don't think that's a big deal and the paste is actually a few bucks more hehe. got about the same temps as the last build, takes like an hour before i get to 70c in prime95 at a 4.4 oc with the intel 4000 graphics on which is what i was getting last time so seems pretty good so far hehe.
