Plugged my new build into a HDTV using a HDMI cable, no screen.
Plugged it into a PC monitor via VGA got boot screen (which is what I was looking for)

Note: this is using integrated graphics and yes it is plugged in to the ports on the motherboard.

What's wrong?

Solution

you dont need an OS to go into bios, plug in your monitor throuh the standard VGA or DVI ports, when you power on the PC, press "DEL", that will take you to the bios, then
Mainboard Settings>Advanced>Integrated Graphics Configuration>IGD-MultiMonitor>Enable

booted from HDMI, POST screen is there, its only when i connect 2 or more monitors when the POST screen is defaulted to the DVI output

Did you use a monitor or TV as the display?

Monitor - DELL S2440L.
stupid question but did you select the input source to HDMI on your TV? TVs cant auto detect input signal and has to be manually selected.
You can also try this.. go to your bios, Mainboard Settings>Integrated Graphics Configuration>IGD-MultiMonitor>Enable

and have you installed the latest HD 4000 drivers?? here's the download link assuming you are using Win 7/8 x64
INTEL HD 4000/2500 Driver

Yes I had it set for HDMI :)
I tried other input options as well like "computer" "component" and all said no signal.
No I have no drivers, or anything not even a OS yet. This was a first build just checking if it would boot on my tv. Will check after I install the drivers
