I have a laptop Acer Aspire 5740G:MS2286, the gpu is ati radeon 5650.
laptop starts up, but no visuals.

Is it better to replace mobo or attatch an external gpu?

It can stay stationary, converted to a desktop.

p.s - eGPU would be attatched with mPCIe

External GPUs are not really for gaming or other perfomance heavy tasks so that wouldn't be a good choice. Best choice would probably replacing the motherboard.
