Hello, I'm building my first machine, I have just connected power and the power light is flashing at a 5 second interval and both fans spin also every5 seconds. What's the most likely reason for the system not booting up? components are asus p8z77v-lx intel i5 any help most welcome

Hi I can't upload photo as too large and only have access to iPad at the moment. I have reset and checked all power sources. the heatsink and CPU fan are working but only at 5 second intervals for 1-2 seconds. The onboard LED is not on. I think there may be a fault with the mother board to be honest, would you agree? I've used a meter to check power supply and it's fine. I've also checked all the power connections are correct.
