black monitor screen

i have a mac osx4.11 and my monitor has gone black. it does have power. i have the mac networked to my pc and i can work on the desktop of my mac from my pc. i've connected another monitor to the mac and it is also a black screen. what is the problem?

i replaced the video card with the exact same kind i had. the monitor is now coming on and says that i must restart my computer. i've done that 3 times and did a reset 2 times and am still getting that box on the screen every time. any suggestions.
