Hey all, looking to get a new mobo/cpu for my current computer running a gtx 660 with 8gb ram and a 450w psu. I run games at 1920x1080.

Was just wondering which would be the better option, I am not looking to overclock, just want something good to pair with my current gpu :)

1) Intel® Core i5 Quad Core Processor i5-3570 (3.4GHz) 6MB Cache with
ASUS P8H77-M: M-ATX, DDR3, USB 3.0, SATA 6.0Gb/s, CrossFireX

Or

2) AMD FX-6350 Six Core CPU (4.2/3.9GHZ - 8MB CACHE/AM3+) with
ASUS M5A97 R2.0(DDR3, USB3.0, 6Gb/s

The AMD to me looks best as it is cheaper, but would I be better spending more on the i5? How is the AMD compared to the i5?

I play games such as Battlefield 3. hopefully 4 when its released, Arma 2, hopefully 3. Rfactor, Sim City. :)

You may also think about that PSU. 450 watts may be within the upper limits of your hardware, but thats if its a good brand with good components. Youre going to have to upgrade from that sooner or later.

Yes the PSU is the next on my 'to upgrade list' :) I am currently looking to upgrade the CPU/mobo atm.

The FX6350 would be a great buy...it's also overclockable...which the 3570 is not. It's also significantly cheaper, which means you could spend more on the GPU...and that matters more than the CPU (though the CPU does matter some).

Between the 2 you won't see the difference in games...but if going to the AMD chip means that you get a better GPU, you will notice that difference.
