Hello,

I have just been offered a Phanteks PH-TC14PE for my Corsair H60 (straight trade) and i'm wondering if i should go for it or not. Seems a no brainer really as the phantek has brilliant reviews and outperforms every other cooler in its class. I thought id drop in here first before i agree to anything just incase i'm missing something.

Some info on my system:

intel core i7 2700k (overclocked to 4.5ghz stable)
sapphire radeon vapor x 7950
16gb corsair vengance ram
GIGABYTE GA-Z77-D3H motherboard
Corsair builder series 600w psu
Corsair H60 cooler
antec 302 case

I've had the above setup for around 3 months now and have been very happy with it but would love to overclock some more. With the H60 4.5ghz seems the limit, anything higher and the temps start creeping up to 75C +. Im assuming the phanteks would let me push this up to 4.8 ghz or even 5ghz if i'm lucky.

The phanteks i've been offered is a 2011 version so i'm not sure if there have been any revisions since then. My H60 is the 2013 version and only a few months old.

Would you go for the phanteks in my shoes or stick with the H60 ? Please explain your reasons.

Thanks ;-)

phantech all the way. I run an i5 2500k on high voltage and an overclock to 4.7MHz. I idle around 25C and peak at 70C with a hyper 212. I like air there is just less to go wrong as the only thing that does anything is the fan. I also think air is quieter.

Thanks. I'm really tempted to just go for it even more so since seeing your reply.

One minor thing putting me off is the noise. You see i've done a little research into the phanteks and it seems a revision was brought out earlier this year with pwm fans. It appears the 2011 version didnt have pwm fans and was therefore very loud. Apparently these older models sounded like jet engines :o : and i certainly dont want to hear that when im gaming.

If anyone can confirm the noise ratio ?
