Hello all I am using fraps to generate video at 30fps, the files are very large. I have been looking at programs such as handbrake and virtualdub to compress these files to smaller files while maintaining the hd quality. My question I suppose would be should I compress the video files first and then make the video on power director 11, or should I make the video on power director 11 and then compress that video using one of the other programs, before uploading the video to youtube? I am having issues with maintaining quality when compressing first, any info or help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Well for my youtube videos I edit with sony vegas pro 12 which with rendering compresses the file into the smallest possible file size while maintaining the highest possible quality... I record in 1080p file sizes start out at 2gb after editing and rendering file sizes are a little under 1gb with other video clips for preview

The less compression, the better, as I'm sure you well know. Youtube automatically compresses your video when it's published, and limits the framerate to 30. When you edit the video through power director, it compresses while publishing there, too. Upload uncompressed video for best results - even though it might take forever.
