Hello guys im in the beginning phase of building my first gaming rig im very new to this, this will be my first build will these components be good enough to run games like guildwars 2 arma and bf3.

Mobo- Asrock Z68 extreme 3 gen3
CPU- i3 2600k
RAM- need help with this one
GPU- Geforce 650 1GB

advice needed on some of these parts will they work together? will they run these games on high to med settings? how long before i need to upgrade parts. Or is it better if i purchase a Cyberpower pc and then upgrade gpu?

Firstly, you could wait and buy a new Haswell cpu in a month together with a new Z87 motherboard.
An i5 is the best option for gaming, an i7 is pretty much a waste.
For the RAM, just get a 8gb 1600mhz CL9 1.5v kit, from a trustable brand.
For the GPU, the 700 serie from Nvidia is about to realease.
Even though this will just be a rebrand, you should try and get a 760TI, which is basicly a 670 only cheaper.
You could also get a 600 card if they become cheaper, AMD also has a lot of good options like the 7870XT for 220, which offers great performance for the price.
I'm afraid a 650 won't cut it.
When looking for PSU's, try and get a Seasonic, they probably make the best PSU's on the market.

the parts will work together, but some are a little older, and you can spend less for an adequate gaming system.

mobo- asrock is fine, but maybe look for a z75/z77

cpu- the popular choice for gaming and overclocking is the i5-3570k. the i7 would work fine, but games dont utilize hyperthreading, therefore youre spending a lot on features that will go unused for gaming.

ram- gskill ripjaws and corsair vengeance are two pretty popular types of ram...go for 8 gb of 1600mhz

gpu-with any money you've saved spend it on the gpu. 650 is decent, but it is entry level. if you can afford to go up, go up to the 650ti boost, or preferably higher.

and you didnt mention a psu, dont cheap out here. theres plenty of good brands, but also a lot of cheap cheap power supplies that can really mess up your system. its worth the extra money to get one from a trusted brand.

I assume you meant Intel Core i7 2600k?

I would highly recommend a GTX 650 Ti Boost over the vanilla 650 or 650 Ti. Someone else would probably be able to give you better insight on exactly what you need to achieve medium or high settings but I highly doubt a plain 650 could even do medium settings at playable frame rates.

4 GB of RAM is the bare minimum you need to game these days. 8 GB is the sweet spot.

The cheapest route for a gaming PC is to build it yourself, unless you can find some over the top deal.

I hope that helps!
