Hi Guys,

I have recently built a new rig centered around an i7 3770K OC to 4.5GHZ and am still using my Asus 7970 standard edition OC in Afterburner to it's maximum.

I have been playing the original Crysis at 1920 x 1080 will everything on maximum, and after exiting the game I have looked at Afterburner's readings and it's telling me that the card is being pushed to around 95 to 95%?! I don't understand why this is the case, as playing Blood Dragon in DX11 it doesn't give those high levels of readings?

Is this normal/what you would expect? I realise Crysis 1 is still a VERY good looking game, but as my card was designed with DX11.1 in mind, I wouldn't have thought it would be pushed by this game to that extent? I am only hitting temps in the mid 70's by the way.

Would any of you be worried?

Cheer's!!

Why worry ?

Crysis 1 was poorly optimized. It's very taxing on hardware compared to the results you actually get. Add the point that 7000 series shines a lot better on DX 11 than DX 10 and you have your answer.

Yep, not very well optimized, though you should be getting a fantastic framerate, since your GPU is probably the best choice available for that game. A lot of the graphics were brute-force in Crysis, so it's still very demanding today. Btw, you can cap your framerate in AB to lower GPU usage, if you're concerned. I cap Crysis at 45fps because in some places it still drops below 30fps in my rig.

Hey Guys,

I appreciate your help, and I am getting 60 FPS and it's as smooth as butter. I just didn't expect my 7970 as Afterburner suggests to use almost all of the GPU's available power on a DX10 from 6 years ago!?
