new cpu no monitor signal

I recently tried to switch my amd Athlon quad core to an amd eight core. When i switched out the old one for the newer one i got a no monitor signal. so i swithched it bask and it works fine.
HELP PLEASE.........

A BIOS update might be neeed. What CPU, motherboard and BIOS version?

It's a gigabyte motherboard only a year onld and the cpu is an amd fx 8 core 3.1 ghz.

I assume you don't know the model. Installing CPU-Z would help. Check also the board's BIOS version.

If the board's revision is 3.1, the CPU is supported but the "FE" BIOS version is required.
Is CPU-Z installed?

Now check the motherboard revision and the BIOS version in the Mainboard TAB:
Model.... Rev.

The bios version is F4. and the model revision just says x.x

The revision number should be on the motherboard. Can you check it?

Then, according to this list http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=3412
the CPU is not supported.
I suggest contacting Gigabyte Support and see what they say.

yep. even the newest bios for that motherboard doesn't support all 8 core fx... just the bulldozer ones.
