Hey guys,

I'm running a 3 monitor set-up. One 46" HDTV in the middle and 24" LG widescreen monitors on the sides and with the current set-up for my PC, I'm only able to run 2 monitors since my graphics card is able to support only 2 monitors. One is using HDMI and the other is using VGA. Here are my PC Specs:
Processor: Intel core i3 2120 Sandy Bridge
RAM: 8GB DDR3
Motherboard: ASUS P8-H61-M LX
GFX: AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series

My question is, I only have 1 x16 PCI slot where the graphics card is currently fitted into, I have a spare nVidia GeForce GT520 lying around, am I able to put this into any PCI slot and run the third monitor with a DVI or a VGA cable from there? I'm not looking for best graphics results as the side monitors are used for things that don't require much graphics and that's why I use the middle monitor for main graphics uses.

Thanks guys.

Solution
You can probably run one of the monitors of your iGPU, my CPU is Ivy Bridge, but it will let me run two monitors off the video card and two of the integrated graphics.

7700 series can run 3 monitors, I assume you have one that doesn't have the needed mDP? I agree, if you have any form of Onboard try that. If your 520 is a PCI card and not a PCIe card then assuming you have any PCI slots you can use it. You can't plug a x16 PCIe card into a "normal" PCI slot. There can be issues, but assuming you aren't using Vista you can run a card from AMD and Nvidia together.

I tried doing that and the monitor was on power saving mode I'm guessing it's not being detected at all, maybe it's not attached to the motherboard or something?

Oh alright! thanks for the help.

Yeah I guess I'm one of the unlucky owners of a non-mDP card.

My 5750 was like that. The chip supported 3 screens, but Asus gave it a VGA port instead of the needed mDP. Why AMD decided to mandate display port use is beyond me. Nvidia doesn't have that issue.

Are the drivers loaded for the onboard? Not all onboards will stay on with a PCIe card installed. You can always try the 520 assuming you don't have vista.

I'll try installing the onboard graphics drivers and see how it goes and I'll try the GT520 into any PCI slot too and let you guys know.

Well it worked!!! thank you guys! Yeah you had to download the drivers and then go into the BIOS to get iGPU enabled and then install the drivers and voila, it works!
