I apologize if this seems vague and general, the request I received was vague. I got asked by the company owner about computer monitoring software, but no real clear answer on what he was seeking to be monitored.

All our users are using RDP to VPN into a centralized system for Office and other applications. However, due to its speed limitations, most users will use browsers outside of RDP. I'm believe the main goal is to monitor that type of usage, as we have about 8 separate physical locations with computers in each.

I'd need something I can remotely monitor easily and deploy across multiple locations. Each location has its own internet access (mostly T-1s and/or Fiber broadband). Looking for any suggestions on possible solutions to begin looking into.

What kind of VPN do you have to the client sites - is it a VPN tunnel or are users connecting with a VPN client?

If you manage a firewall on their site, it seems like you could track their usage from there (assuming you have a decent SMB firewall).
If they have dynamic IPs or change workstations frequently, you could look into SSO tracking from the firewall as well.

It also depends on the level of management you have over the branch/child sites.
