RAT and Gaming Mice in General

What are good gaming mice that are sort of low budget? I am willing to spend probably about $80 or lower. I would like at least 3 customizable buttons, a scroll wheel with a ratchet and maybe also a thumb rest, but that is not imperative. I have heard that the RAT is good from some people and then others say it is overpriced junk, and then there are like 19 versions of it so fill me, I personally know that Madcatz's products fall apart but I don't know if it applies to this one. If you have any good or bad experiences with gaming mice tell me, any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

That is a little too many buttons I think... but what about the G700 that looks pretty good, a good amount of buttons, the logitech scroll wheel thingy, (which i quite like), a decent thumb rest, and the optional wireless or wired. I would be willing to spend a little more money for a good buy

I love my old MX518, and the new G500 is very good as well (practically the same thing), the G700 is good, but it's hit or miss with the tracking. Something like 1/3 to 1/2 have issues where they don't track properly, I happened to get one of those ones where it's bad, it makes it very hard to click precisely, but besides that issue it is an incredibly comfortable mouse whether you are a claw or a palm gamer.

Could you explain the quality issue with the G700 more in depth please? And do you happened to know the logitech return policy? I could look it up, but sometimes what actually happens is different than what they say.

So the mouse moves, but the cursor is jittery and imprecise, that's what I mean by tracking issue, their customer service is very good as long as you be sure to register your product. I am currently working on getting mine replaced and they are very nice to communicate with and very helpful. I don't know specifically what their policy though, sorry

Oh ok, as long as they are willing to replace it, I looked it up and it sounds like you have to spend like a month without a mouse unless you have a spare, between when u send it back and they give u a replacement. Do you have any other mice to recommend? I don't want to just be narrow sighted because I like Logitech.

I also said earlier that I hear good things about the razer.
I subscribe on YouTube to this channel LevelCapGaming he did a video review on this mouse, actual quote from the review (I loved Logitech because of the feel of the mouse but i tried the razer and its great) along the lines that.

I think the razer is around 60$

due to its adjustable nature rat mice are fragile. i've read a handful of posts on here about them breaking. personally i wouldnt buy one but some people seem to love them. if you are very careful with it then it would probably work.

some people like the mouse made by corsair. logitech mice in general seem to perform well. razer products typically work okay but the new drivers suck. i have an old model deathadder and it works great. i wouldnt buy a new 2013 deathadder though since you are forced to use the new synapse drivers.

Its very precise fits well in hand and very ergonomic. low cost

i have the older style deathadder (with the rubberized coating) and other than the rubberized coating being a total dust magnet it works flawlessly. since i dislike the razer software i dont have the drivers installed and just use the mouse with windows default drivers for mice. i dont need fancy on-the-fly dpi changing or other features. it works great and has for a few years so far.

without drivers the new mice should be comparable to what i have now except the coating isnt rubberized anymore or so i hear. if you do get the drivers you need razer synapse which is chock full of bugs. oh and you have to register an account with them to use it.

So to use it at all you need to register with them and get the drivers and horrible synapse? And also are the buttons on the side of the death adder hard to press, they look awkwardly placed and really low profile?

my brother recently purchased a naga hex and installed the synapse 2.0 drivers. you need to provide an email address and some other details. apparently it stores your settings on a cloud server which i dont agree with. the drivers are working fine for him right now but i've heard of bugs in the software. i was involved in a post on here trying to fix an issue with synapse.

you can use a basic mouse like a deathadder without the drivers. the windows drivers will support the extra buttons but you will lose the ability to change the glow status of the icon on the mouse and adjust the dpi. i can live without those features and since windows supports the extra buttons i can get along fine without them. its my personal choice to not use the drivers.

the deathadder is ideal for people with average sized hands who like to palm the mouse. i rest my pointer finger on the left button, ring finger on the right, 3rd finger on the top curling around to the right side and my pinky kind of drags half off the mouse. i can very easily press the two side buttons with my thumb. they have enough resistance so that you dont accidentally click them, are in a location so you can use your thumb to pick up the mouse and reset the mouse position without clicking the buttons and are large and simple enough to click without making a mistake. personally i havent found a mouse which has worked for me better. they are low profile buttons but they do stick out of the mouse between 1/32 and 1/16 of an inch. again, i've had no problems.

in short... i find the design almost perfect. the drivers work but you need to register and cloud host settings. you can use the mouse without drivers but you lose a few features.

i use it on this mousepad....

before i used to have a standard sized black mousepad.

That's a pretty awesome mouse pad. Well one of my buds has the death adder, I will see if I can get him to let me feel it... That came out wrong, but I have heard mostly good, in fact all good about the death adder besides the drivers. It seems like a simple, hassle free gaming mouse that will work, and honestly that sounds good to me, I might miss the thumb rest but I can get used to it.
