Hi everybody! I have Crosshair v formula Z and AMD FX 8350. Built it in january. the computer boots/operates just fine. I try to access the BIOS and it just freezes. ( i am hitting the right key to access bios) Then i have to pull power out and boot... I hear people saying i need to update the motherboard? or CPU... not sure how to do this. I've googled this problem but I cant find help anywhere!

Any help is appreciated!

What are the rest of the components in the build? I need more information to help you.

So you are saying you can boot into an Operating System but not get into Bios?

If you download the latest Bios/UEFI onto a thumb drive you should be able to flash the bios to the latest version. You use a special Usb port on the back of the Motherboard and press a button next to the port, if this board is anything like my 990FX Sabertooth Rev 2.0.

since I don't know what OS you are running

I would guess you need to go to the BIOS tab and download the "1403 " bios to a usb stick.

The right key to BIOS/UEFI is delete or F2.

hi fixer, thanks for responding.

My computer

Asus Crosshair v formula z
AMD FX 8350
XFX Radeon 7870 Double "D"
2 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance ram
asus 24x oem dvd rw
Seagate barracuda 500 GB 7200 RPM
Corsair 850watt PSU

Ok reset the CMOS by either pulling the battery on the motherboard or buy using the jumper on the motherboard. Consult the Asus Crosshair v formula z manual on which position the jumper should be in to clear the CMOS. The jumper should be near the bottom right of the motherboard near the front panel pins. Try the Bios upgrade as I said in my last post.

Also try to follow this troubleshooting post. I have found it useful, and saved one of my computers with it.

If you are still lost, Email Asus. They built it they should be able to help.

Ok I'll try that. Playing metro last light. The pc is a good build and able to handle intense gaming and computing. I just want to get into the freaking Bios. I really appreciate your help fixer. Thank you sir.

Another thought. I forgot to ask is anything overclocked? If it is, return to stock clocks. I think you can do this with a bios switch on the motherboard (it does have one of those?)or with AMD overdrive or with the CMOS reset.
