DVD Writer Suddenly Not Working.

I have a Pioneer DVD Writer which has all of a sudden stopped working.

I was burning a Data Disk with CD Burner XP and it was at the Disk Verify stage.

It got to almost 100 % and then said the disk could not be Verified as something else was using the process.

Nothing else was so i did a reboot and now there is no Power to the drive and it is not showing up in Device manager. Its also not showing in the BIOS.

I am running Windows 64 Ultimate.

Any thoughts?

hit the eject button, does it work?
verify the power/data cables are still tightly plugged in to the back of the drive
see if it gets detected in your bios

if none of the above works maybe the drive died

They do die and fortunately they are cheap so don't spend a lot of time troubleshooting. I have rejuvenated more than one by just unplugging & replugging the cables. The electrical contacts get dirty and this will clean them for a while.
