I'm buying an i7-3770k processor and I'm wondering if a good correspond card would be the GTX 650 Ti or something equivalent. I'm new to computer building and never ask questions like these or ask them on forums. I will be using this rig for a huge chunk of time in gaming. So if you have any suggestions to change my processor or suggest a case or motherboard please I would be more than welcome to hear what you have to say.

Solution

You are leaning in the right direction. However, be sure to do your research on an overclocked 670 versus a stock 680.

Yes, spend more on the GPU, but be sure you still have a great CPU. The 3770k and the 3570k are both fine processors.

My rule of thumb for a balanced gaming pc is to budget twice the cost of the cpu for the graphics card.
In this case, you would be looking at a GTX680.

Also, for gaming, a 3570K will be just as good, and $100 cheaper.
Few games can use more than 2-3 cores, making the extra hyperthreads of the 3770K irrelevant.

Lastly, I would wait a few weeks for the 4670K. It looks to be 10% faster, clock for clock, should OC better, and not be priced much higher.

Well I won't be actually be buying the parts until early August. So hopefully the prices drop or some huge breakthrough but I doubt it. So if I have a $150 CPU I want to get a $300 GPU to my understanding? I'm assuming you want higher GPU > CPU ? Also I'm leaning towards the i5 and the GTX 680 now. Thanks for your suggestions and information.

Yes. But if you’ve got the money, just go ahead and get the 3770k, and all your fears will be vanquished. Overkill is good.

There is no i5 3770k to my knowing.
