If these APU's include a crossfire upgrade, allowing dual graphics with better GPU's, then I think this would be a VERY good gaming solution. Not to mention it would already be decent for the medium gamer.

I think it would be kind of pointless to crossfire the integrated graphics of an APU with anything more powerful than what is currently allowed. Even if it were possible running a crossfire config with a 7970 and a 7660D would be like strapping a weed whacker engine to a freight train. Is it there, yes.. Is it going to provide any type of noticeable performance increase, most definitely not. Until APU graphics are comparable in performance level to discrete GPU's you will most likely not see the capability to run CFX with cards significantly above the APU's performance level.

The only practicality I could see for the situation would be using it as a power saving feature. The big GPU only runs when you need the power. Otherwise the much more energy efficient graphics of the APU take over for general usage tasks there in saving alot of power usage.

Well, it makes sense with something like a HD 7750/7770 though...

With Kaveri, if you could CF with something like a HD 7850/7870 and had even 75% of the performance from the integrated GPU on the die...that would be a pretty potent combo.

Lol, my bad, I mean't Richland.

I'ts supposed to be receiving some notable graphics upgrades, I just hope they allow crossfire with a GPU a bit better.

I'ts a really good idea, I just hope they make it more practical.

The last I've read on Richland, the Radeon HD 8670D is expected to be between 20% - 40% more powerful than the current Radeon HD 7760. That basically means on the low end of the range the performance may be about equal to a Radeon HD 5670. On the high end of the range it would probably have around 80% the performance of a Radeon HD 6670.

Based on AMD's current drivers for Trinity, the Radeon HD 7750 is included in crossfire support. That should also be the case with Richland. However, I have not seen any benchmarks for the Radeon HD 7660D + Radeon HD 7750; therefore I do not know how much of an improvement there is with that setup; if any.

Will the Radeon HD 7770 crossfire (dual graphics) support be included? Unknown at this point in time.
