How do you make a game use the integrated graphics instead of the graphics card?

How do I make the game use the integrated graphics (Intel HD Graphics 4000) of my i7 3770? I use a GTX 660, but I would very much like to see how the integrated graphics perform.

Is it just that easy? No configuring or rebooting or anything?

You will want to reboot and let your computer boot with the monitor plugged into your motherboard. No other configuring should be needed. The only thing I can think of, not knowing what motherboard you have, is changing your default graphics adapter in your BIOS from PCI to integrated, but I don't have to change any settings when I use mine. I actually use mine for displaying on my TV for shows and stuff while my monitor is plugged into my GPU for all other tasks, works quite well, but i haven't tried gaming with it :)

If you instal the Virtu MVP software from lucid you can tell a game or application to use either the HD4000 or your GTX 660 or both together.

I had problems with virtumvp, they might have fixed it by now, but it was really buggy when I tried it, worth a try though :)

Would it be possible to have the monitor connected both to my graphics card and motherboard at the same time? Then just switch between them in the monitor menu?

That is what I do. I have an HDMI cable connected to my mobo for my TV, and a DVI connected to my monitor from my GPU. I run extended displays in the monitor menu, and use the audio manager to choose where the sound comes from. I think I've heard that some motherboards are better than others with this type of thing, but it is worth a shot anyway, you aren't gonna damage anything trying. If you run into problems just reboot without the plug in the mobo and you will be back to normal.

I tried using HDMI, but my MOBO has some kind of wierd kind of port. Filled with black plastic, cable doesn't fit.
After that I tried using VGA/DVI. When I then tried switching to the DVI/VGA on my monitor the screen turns black and then goes back to my HDMI connected to my GPU. Any ideas?

If you could post your system specs, I might be able to help, especially your motherboard make and model, but to know all of the parts you are using would be helpful.

Only thing I can come up with for Acer Aspire x3995 is a small form factor pc with very different specs than yours, are you sure that's the name of your motherboard? I can't find any info on it to determine compatibility

Yes I am sure, have checked CPU-Z and Speccy. This used to be a small form factor PC. I upgraded it with a new case, PSU and graphics card. It used to have a GT630. Here are the specs of the MOBO on Speccy:http://tinypic.com/r/m3vit/5

ok, makes sense now, I can't get a pure techsheet on it though. I would assume if the HDMI is filled in the mobo might not support integrated, don't hold me to that though. Did you say the motherboard had a DVI hookup? The pictures of the back of the acer aspire I can find don't have any monitor hookups on the motherboard
