Can Intel Core 3 + discrete graphics?

My Gateway desktop's system is Intel Core 3, and its original graphics is Intel(R) HD graphics, but I wanna add a Gigabyte graphics (discrete graphics). All the installed things I did well, but when the computer was started, the monitor was black. I heard from someone that I should set up something in BIOS, so wat can I do?

My graphics card is Gigabyte GTX 650, everything is plugged in correctly, I doubt it because of the setting of BIOS.

do you even see the bios start up screen? if not make sure everything is plugged in correctly. If it is you might have a dead gpu. Try installing drivers before plugging the card in.

What is your PSU? How many watts and how many amps on the 12v?

Usually a computer that comes from the store can't accept upgrades because the PSU is not sufficient. Maybe we can suggest a better one for you.

Also please tell us the graphics card you purchased.

^ unless he bought a really high end gpu (which i doubt he did) it should still boot up. An idle gpu doesn't consume that much power.

Yea try taking out the graphics card and putting it back in again. Also make sure all cables/wires were connected properly.
