I've been looking at getting a SATA PCI card so that I can install a dvd drive and another hdd in my computer... I was just wondering if read/write speeds will suffer significantly due to using this rather than my motherboards SATA Ports.

If it helps, this is the card I was looking at getting: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Syba-Port-SATA-6Gbps-PCI-Expres...

Thanks, :)

For mechanical HDDs and dvds it will work fine. If you want a card to work properly with the fastest ssds out there you will need to pay way more($400).

Ok great, so I'll just use my motherboards sata ports for ssds etc.. and the ones on the card for my dvd drives etc..

Thanks :)
