Hi Guy's,

I am just a "little" concerned about the temps my reference 7970 is hitting whilst playing DX11 games.

I have it overclocked on Afterburner to it's maximum (have not touched the voltage control) I am hitting almost 80 degrees in Crysis 1 & 2 both at 1920 X 1080 and both games patched with the texture packs in place etc.

Should I be worried about hitting these temps? What is the thermal cut off, if any on these cards? Am I well within the safety margin?

Any advice/help just to put my mind at ease would be most appreciated!!

Cheer's.

80C is fine, you can get up to give or take 90C before it becomes a issue. But otherwise you're fine. One way to possibly help cool it is, make a new fan profile that runs the fans at a higher speed at all times. Another is making sure your desktop is clean of dust and you have good cable managment. Also the ambient temps of your room would be a big factor on helping keep it cooler.
