Need new ram? Help please!

So my pc has randomly been restarting lately. Sometimes my windows 7 just gets stuck in a loop of loading and rebooting. I opened it up and as soon as it reboots, the ram light blinks a couple of times and the the CPU blinks as well (probably from the ram messing up) I have 2 corsair ram sticks (2x2 4gb) installed on my
Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0. I've been reading lately from a lot of forums that Corsair Ram might not be completely friendly with Asus motherboards, but would love to have a second pair of eyes on the matter. Links to my current ram and mobo will be below, thanks in advance!

That ram does not appear on either the QVL or in the manual.

Have you run memtest on the ram? Pull down your manual and the QVL list HERE and you will find all kinds of ASUS compatible ram.

I have an M5a97 and it was kinda fussy about ram until I got some off the list. Works like a champ now.

There are so many RAM sets out there that the Mobo manufacturer doesn't have all the time to verify all RAM sets. 99% of the time if you get a RAM set that runs at stock voltage of 1.5v (DDR3), your more than likely to be able to use the set on the Mobo. It's not 100% a for sure thing, but it opens up most options with a set that runs at 1.5v.

In principle, I agree, but Asus seems to be touchy sometimes.

Thanks all, Just an update for anyone in thr future who may have this problem. PC boots perfectly using one stick of my corsair ram, the problem just occurs when i have both installed it seems. I just tried my old ram cards (both) and they work perfectly. Looks like i'm stuck with 2gb of ram at the moment but at least i know what my problem is. Thanks for all the answers!

Just one more question. Can someone suggest some ram sticks for me? I was going to upgrade my ram later this year but i guess this just speeds up the process. I'm looking for 8gb at the moment and something that won't break the bank (even though ram is fairly cheap now days) thanks!

Did you try the other RAM slots? You know you have 4 total and when using 2 sticks to use 2 of the same color, I think you have a Blue set and a Black set (check the mobo manual for which slots to use). You could just have a bad slot, unless you used the old RAM set in the slot that might be suspect.

Yeah, I've tried both in blue and both in black. A temporary fix is if my PC reboots, i reboot it with 1 stick in the blue slot, shut down my PC, but the other stick in and it runs flawlessly for a few hours. If i don't do that, my PC just gets stuck in a reboot loop.

Here's a set to consider for replacement. Obviously if your not buying soon the RAM landscape and prices will change, so if you buy later the selection and prices will more than likely change and thus my recommendation would probably too. Main thing to remember is to get a set of 1600 mHz RAM at CAS 9 or better (8,7,6, etc) and that runs at stock voltage of 1.5v. This will minimize your possible issues. Of coarse checking the "Approved" list from the Mobo's manufacturers page is another way to make sure you have an approved and working set of RAM.

I'd also consider RMA'ing your current set to get a good complete set, but that is up to you.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind when I'm looking for a replacement. I'll probably stick to that "approved" list just to be safe. I also plan on going through RMA with it. Thanks all for the support and answers. Cheers :)

Come back after you have everything fix, so we can learn from your experience from the manufacturer and anything else that you experience, good or bad.
