Hello. I have read that the upcoming PS4 will be able to reproduce 4K resolutions. I don't know if they are talking about just playing 4K movies or also gaming? My question goes because a GTX 680 alone costs like the future PS4 will and on the specs I have read that the max resolution is 2560x1600. Does that mean that the PS4 is already better than a GTX 680?

PS4 will be 4k for movies. Gaming will be only in 1080p. GTX 680 can do both gaming and videos in 2560x1600 and it could easily play pre-rendered video at resolutions at and above 4K, but there is no support for it at least yet.

There is no way whatsoever that the PS4 will play games at 4k resolutions. The 690 has issues with that, so there is no way a 7850 equivalent is going to. It MAY display menus or movies or something, but that is impractical due to the fact that no one ever has a 4K TV (they cost around 20,000 dollars as of now) Your 680 may be able to if it has DisplayPort 1.2, but don't expect to do anything with it.

Thank you very much for your clear explanations. I guess is a long way until we will see true next generation games at 4K resolutions since the video card of the so called next generation consoles are already limited to do that.
