Anyone know when the 8000 series will be released? It seems that no one knows, and all the answers I've gotten so far are different. Some say it will coincide with Intel's Haswell, others say the same, but only in OEM and not for builders, and that builder ready 8000 series cards won't release till Q4 2013 or Q1 2014. I was planning on getting a 8970 in July, but if the wait is gonna be Q4 2013 or later I'll get a 7970 instead. Thanks for any help!

the norm is amd releasing new series each year. but this year amd themselves has officially states that the 7900 series will remain their flagship throughout 2013. so far the 8k series that already comes out fir OEM parts are direct rebrands of current 7k series and with some parts got some tweak (like the just announced 8970m) but it is still the very same silicon that empowering current 7k series. so about their next generation so far there no solid info about that. personally i think amd might want to wait until tsmc next die shrink are ready before they roll out their 'true' next gen line up

I'm crying on the inside right now. :'( Oh well. I'll just get a 7970, and by the time I have enough money for a second GPU next year 8000 series would be out and the 7000 series would be cheaper. Sigh.

Yeah, I'll just get a 7970. I'd rather get a 7970 in July and finish my build instead waiting till 2014 for a true 8970. Thanks for the help guys!

Lol looking back at this thread. I ended up going with a 7950 to save some money to get some more bells and whistles for the rest of the build. And AMD technically never came out with the 8000s, as they were renamed to the R7 and R9 series.
