Issue w/ ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0

Hi, I recently started my first build using the above-mentioned mobo, obtained in a package deal from Newegg. It came with a Cooler Master HAF 912 case, a Cooler Master 650W PSU, an AMD 3.8GHz cpu, a 1 TB West-something HDD and 8GB RAM. I finished the build off with an ASUS disc drive and an ASUS 7870 HD video card.

I recently hooked everything up, and I'm getting some weird results. The power switch won't activate, but the video card LEDs and the MOBO are showing green. I changed to the Reset Switch and got .5 seconds worth of power flow, the fans spinning, and it stopped. A reset/unplug of the psu gave repeat results, but no repeats during the same plug-ins.

I was wondering if the MOBO was damaged, or if I might have another problem? Any tips or advice would be highly appreciated.

  1. Hi, Try taking the board outside the case and start it with only CPU and CPU fan installed.
Make sure both 24 and 8 pin power cables are connected.
Check if the CPU fan does spin.
    What CPU using?

It's the AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6GHz (3.8Ghz Turbo). I've reseated it once (pretty sure it was seated properly the first time) and made sure everything was lined up again. I can't dismount anything just now, but that's definitely the next step. I'll report back with results soon!
