hello everyone wanted to know if the source 650w antec ea green can run the radeon 7870 OC, because I have said out there that does not have the necessary continuous amps for this, and I have fear that I burned the video card ... greetings hope your answers

what happens is that sapphire forum have told me and I keep saying that this source gives only 27 amps on the 12v rail of 38 amps which says its manual only refer to peak maximum and the radeon 7870 oc needs 30 amps to work properly and not damaged anything, so not really think ... I hope your answers

For a system using a single AMD reference design Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition graphics card AMD specifies a minimum of a 500 Watt or greater system power supply. The power supply should also have a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 28 Amps or greater and have at least two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

For a system using two AMD reference design Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition graphics cards in 2-way CrossFireX mode AMD specifies a minimum of an 600 Watt or greater system power supply. The power supply should also have a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 40 Amps or greater and have at least four 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Sufficient Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most critical factor.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) may require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted.

The Antec EarthWatts Green Series 650W (EA-650 Green), with its maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 54 Amps and with two (6+2)-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors, is way more than sufficient to power your system configuration with a single Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition graphics card. It also has more than sufficient electrical capacity to power your system configuration with two Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition graphics cards in 2-way CrossFireX mode but you'll need to use a couple of PCI Express Y-splitter cables.

Antec has set the OCP Set Point for each +12V rail on the EA-650 Green at 50 Amps to prevent nuisance triggering of the Over Current Protection circuit.
