hi guys its my upgrade time i have my home built pc now for 3 years and im looking towards making an upgrade to my sytem a bit.

should i buy a new video card? or buy the same gtx 680 sc2 and get rid of my 650 ti and run the gtx 680 in sli?

should i buy new ram? is my ram slow?

should i buy a new cpu? because this cpu might bottlekneck two 680?

lets not get too carried away im willing to spend like 500 dollars and maybe alittle more depending on what everyone suggests

i don't think u need any up gradation.
and if u want u can buy 2 gb ram to get max performance.

^ the OP were using board based on X58 chipset. adding another 2gb will make the memory running on dual channel though there is no noticeable performance impact compared running those memory with triple channel.

@OP

a single 680 already fast enough for most games even for much recent one. maybe you should save that money when you truly need to upgrade your entire hardware.

i was thinking about getting metro last light and running dayz standalone on full settings should i wait for another gtx 680 then? like till it goes lower in price? i also have a 850 corsair powersupply so i know it can handle that card in sli

first try running the game using one 680 first and see if you like the performance. you might want to try other demanding games as well. btw don't really wait for 680 to drop in price. before you can get it on a bargain price the card might as well long gone from the market. if you still want to pick one for cheaper price try looking for one in used market. that is if you don't afraid with the chances on getting broken stuff from used market

well i have used the gtx 680 in borderlands 2 by itself and physx beats the crap out of it, it had horrible frame rate dips with lag spikes until i got the 650ti and dedicated that to phys x

it runs well on bf3 some frame rate drops by itself but no lag at all and the same goes for skyrim if i lower the AA a bit like keep it at 8 things run well but again frame rate drops are not uncommon when i use this card. and even worse when i use it on a game with physx

then you might want to secure that second 680 though you might to oc your cpu further
