Hey all, I've been digging around for an answer to this, but can't seem to find one. I've got a Dell Studio 1747 that was slowing down, so I installed a SSD and reinstalled windows. After that, I had to go through all the win updates & download Dell drivers. Most of everything is working, but one annoying thing is that I used to be able to plug my 2nd monitor (for extended display) into the vga port and it would automatically detect and extend to that display. But now, there is no change unless I go into "Screen Resolution" and choose "Detect". It seems there must be some kind of driver or utility that takes care of this, but I can't find it to download. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks!

No, unfortunately, there is not. I am very aware of the function key that allows you to choose whether to duplicate your screen to the 2nd monitor & so-on. That doesn't fix my issue. Before, all I had to do was plug in the VGA cable, the laptop would recognize the 2nd monitor, blink to black & then extend automatically to the new screen. Now it isn't doing that. I will check the key option to see if it is at least faster, but I still want my auto-detect back.
