Powersupply is ramping the fan up to 100%

Ok so i just got another 660ti and put it in sli. i was playing some bf3 testing temps and i thought my video cards were making the noise, turns out my xfx 850w pro turned its fan all the way up to 100% and its blowing air onto my videocards. is this normal?i have every one of the pci cables used and my cpu is at 4.5ghz all of the cables on the power supply are being used except a 8pin cpu and a few sata connectors.Even more odd, hw monitor says that i was only drawing 88w.

the video card never broke 75c and were almost always over 85% fan speed always over 90% power usage

The fan wouldn't be blowing air out, it would be pulling air in. Your PSU should be at the bottom, with the fan facing down, pulling air in through the bottom of the case.

Also, the fact that you added another card could be the reason the PSU ramped its the fan.

Fan up is also correct depending on the case. Either way the power supply blows hot air out the back of the case not into the case. The fan in the case is the intake.

Well the fan on this one is blowing air in to the case strait onto the videocards, theres no doubt about that.I have it placed fan up so that it can get air into the case. i have a haf x with no wheels on it so its flat on the bottom, also because i wanted it to be astheticly pleasing. in the imgur link on my config you can see the grill of it.Its blowing air into the case right onto the videocards. Is it bad for it to be 100%?i find it odd because its an 850w and im not pulling close to that.

It may be running 100% if the fan is blowing backwards. You never took the fan out and put it back in upside down on accident did you? No power supply has ever had a fan that blows air into the case. Not that I have seen in 20 years of computer experience. Just the dust attraction alone would be reason enough but you would never exhaust heat back into your case either.

Put your hand at the back of the computer and make sure you can't feel exhaust back there. If your PSU is seriously blowing into your case you should return it because that's wrong and you got a defective unit.

Well, a good case will cool better with its side panel on, because it pulls in cold air and exhausts hot air (airflow) and if you take off the side panel, the airflow is disrupted. Not sure why the PSU fan is at 100%, though. What happens when you only use one of the 660 TIs?

If i only use one it runs normal. Thats why i wasn't sure what way the powersupply fan was supposed to be blowing ,it barley turns with one.The noise doesn't bother me. what bothers me is wondering if im doing it damage or not,or if its just ramping up to aid in cooling the extra powerdraw before it gets to hot.
