This is a repost from the thread I made on Reddit. So far, still I can't figure out what or why my games stutter like they do.
I have created a thread before about this problem, and I thought I had it fixed for good. But now, it's coming up in many, if not all, of my PC games. When I was trying to fix the stutter in Killing Floor, I decided that it might have been my mouse and/or keyboard that was causing the problem since the keyboard was the standard one from Dell, and the mouse was a regular wireless one. I bought a Logitech G400 mouse, and a G105 keyboard. Sure enough, it looked solved to me. But now that I've been playing Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Medal of Honor Airborne, and Battlefield 3, I see the stuttering come back with a vengeance.
With HL2, the stuttering happens when in a new area, but disappears after staying for a period of time (a relatively short one). With L4D2, I was testing it in solo campaign, but when going online, the stuttering pretty much went away. With Medal of Honor Airborne, the stuttering went away when I plugged in a controller. Well, that happens with all of my games. A controller usually fixes the stuttering, but I don't want to use one.
Now, with Battlefield 3, I can't use a controller to test it out (I use a PS3 controller with the DS3 Toll program). The stuttering occurs in campaign and in multiplayer. I've found people with similar problems, but with solutions that didn't work for me. Now, to be a bit specific, when they described it, most stated that their fps kept spiking up and down (from 60 to 30, then back to 60). But with me, it's usually a constant 60FPS, with it sometimes going as low as 55.
When I say stuttering, I mean that when looking around, it's either not "smooth," or when turning around objects (such as cars, wall corners, etc.), the pieces move like it's jumping horizontally. It's not smooth. In some games, with vsync disabled, the stuttering does diminish. But with others, such as Battlefield 3, vsync is not an issue, since I get stuttering either way.
http://Here are my specs, well some of them, I think. I use a Logitech G400 mouse, a Logitech G105 keyboard, and for a screen, I use a Westinghouse LED HDTV. I want to point out that my PC is a prebuild, with a recently new GPU that I added. The PC has a PSU that I believe give out the maximum of 460W, and the GPU that I have recommends a PSU with a minimum of 450W. I've been using the program EVGA Precision X to monitor temperatures, GPU usage, and force FPS limit (I haven't touched any of the settings other than FPS limiting, but I would like to learn what the other options do). If there's anything else that you need/want to know, please ask. Thank you for reading this post, and I hope to get rid of this problem once and for all.
This is basically what's up. It's been months, and now I just can't take. Battlefield 3 broke my back with the stuttering. Now I see it in all my games. Well, I guess that's what I get for buying a prebuild....
I'm not even sure if this is where this post belongs in. If not, can anyone direct me to the proper one?
