I'm a composer/video enthusiast/gamer, looking to build a solid system with the main focus on music production. I record live instruments (guitar, cajon, vocals, etc) and use Orchestral VSTs with Reaper DAW 64-bit.
On top of music production, I definitely would like to be able to edit video and play games. For video editing software, I'm currently just running Corel Videostudio Pro x6. Maybe in the future, I'll move to Adobe Premier or Sony Vegas. As for gaming, I'd like to be ready for Elder Scrolls Online =]

Do you need to buy OS: Yes, preferably Windows 7 64-bit
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Doesn't matter
Location: San Jose, Califorina
Parts Preferences: Intel and Nvidia
Overclocking: Never tried, but open to it
SLI or Crossfire: No
Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080, 24 inch and I'm not sure whether to go with an IPS or TN. I've read that color is bad on TN panels, but IPS doesn't have nearly as good refresh rates and response times.
Additional Comments: My condenser mics pick up a ton of subtle noise, so the quieter the better. Also, USB 3.0 slots would be excellent.
Why Are You Upgrading: My 4 year old laptop can't cut it anymore, ahaha.
I've been out of the computer hardware loop for a while (my last build had a 6800 when it was just released) so I appreciate all your help =]
