I got a 7950 Boost for $230. An awesome deal and I'm really happy about it. The problem is that it's a reference card. It hits 75 degrees in some games and that's at stock. So I don't feel comfortable overclocking at all, not to mention this thing gets pretty effin loud.

So I think my only option here is to get a 3rd party cooler. As much as I'd like to build a custom loop, that's not going to happen right now. As far as I know, at this point, my only options are the Accelero Xtreme 7970 and the Gelid Icy Vision-A. Are there any other choices for the 7950? What is my best option here?

Don't...

Bump posts

Know what you mean, I was given a XFX 7950 DD for Christmas and its also d$%n noisy under load...I'm currently eyeing my Zalman VF3000A with evil intent ;).
My only dislike with the Arctic coolers is their insistence in using thermal adhesive (epoxy) to permanently bond the small RAM and VRM heatsinks into place, and it takes at least an hour for this compound to cure.
The cooler you mention is bl**dy brilliant, though.
The Gelid is a decent cooler, but not really in the same league as the Arctic Xtreme.
And do n't bump posts, you'll attract the considerable wrath of the Mods.
EDIT: You already have.

Lol yes it seems I have. It's funny, my intention wasn't to "bump" the post. I see there are 19 views and no replies so I ask "what's up here?". Lesson learned though.

Yeah I have heard bad stuff about the thermal glue they include. Arctic claims that it is removable. I have also heard though that some people are just not installing it right. I think it says to mix the glue for 5 minutes, and that's a damn long time to mix something constantly. I wouldn't be surprised if people are cutting the time there and maybe that's whats happening. Have you actually installed one of these?

Ok so the Arctic is better you say. I was leaning toward the Gelid because it is $30 cheaper. That is significant. Also the Arctic hangs so far off the PCB, and it doesn't really go to to the end of the case, so it looks kind of awkward to me. The Gelid looks better to me installed.

Thanks for your input.
