metro last light problems

I am stuck with 27-30 fps, first I tried running the game with max settings and I was only getting 27-30fps. So I turned down the settings to tessellation off, SSAO off and pretty much the nvidia recommended settings for a gtx670. Then the problem is the fps still remained 27-30 but the gpu usage went down to 50-60%

Then I changed the game setting to max again and the gpu usage became 99% again.

So for some reason the fps does not change for this game, only the gpu usage does depending on the settings. I had vsync and adaptive vsync off this whole time.

This strange problem only occurs for metro last light, everything else runs perfect on my rig. My specs are on my sig.

  1. Sounds like a CPU limitation except with an I7 that shouldn't be.
Can you check your CPU utilization.

cpu usage about 60% each core I think its normal for my i7.
  3. have you tried with phsyx on/off

also saw something about a field of view patch some where on the net

I am going to try now I am pretty sure I never turned physx on unless its on by default in settings
  5. I have seen the same thing on my rig(spec's in sig) I am wondering if this game is not locked at 30fps. I seem to be getting the same frame rate running at 5760x1080 as I do running at 1080p with everything else the same. Really odd. CPU core's running at about 40% and GPU's running about 90% each. On mine Advanced Physx was on but turning it off did not change anything. Even playing it on my FX-8350 with a Crossfire Sapphire HD 7970 get's about the same results so it is not a hardware problem as these two rigs have all different hardware specs and yet CPU and GPU utilization with the two is about the same. Even with Eyefinity/Surround and having that disabled and running at just 1080p.
  6. Assuming you are running the 320.14 Metro Last Light drivers?

Do you have a Logitech G-Series keyboard?

If you are using any Logitech G-Series Keyboard, you may get low performance in Metro Last Light because of a running background process. You need to kill this process, to do this, press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC, navigate to Processes tab, now select LCore.exe and click on End Process. It’s done.
  9. I just updated the game to 1.0.0.2 and the problem still persists-

    Resolution -1920x180
    Quality- Very High
    SSAA- 4X
    Texture filtering AF16X
    Motion Blur- Normal
    Tessellation- High
    VSYNC- Off

fps around 26-29 gpu usage 98-99%, memory usage 1146mb gpu speed 1333mhz temp-63c

    Resolution -1920x180
    Quality- High
    SSAA- Off
    Texture filtering AF4X
    Motion Blur- Normal
    Tessellation- Off
    VSYNC- Off

Fps- 29-30.9 gpu usage only 25-30%!!! memory usage 800mb, gpu speed(1070mhz) temp-46c gpu is underclocked!!!!

Not only the gpu usage is barely 25% gpu is also underclocking itself 300mhz lower than the OC!! but fps never goes above 30

I actually do, hmm interesting I will give that a shot now.

    Edit-

OMG that actually solved the issue!!!!

    Resolution -1920x1080
    Quality- High
    SSAA- Off
    Texture filtering AF4X
    Motion Blur- Normal
    Tessellation- Off
    VSYNC- Off

I am getting 94-120fps at that settings now, Many many thanks to you, Sir!

Most Ideal settings for the game is everything maxed out except SSAA 2x I am getting constant 45-50fps.

    Resolution -1920x180
    Quality- Very High
    SSAA- 2X
    Texture filtering AF16X
    Motion Blur- Normal
    Tessellation- High
    VSYNC- Off
  11. Ha ha! Amazing what you can find with a Google search. That seemed random, but it was the only consistently reported problem I could find related to low FPS on Metro Last Light.

  14. actually now that I think about it, I should have seen this coming. My logitech g19, g930 and g9x started acting strange whenever I launched metro last light like the volume key won't work, the lcd screen on the g19 would freeze, I noticed some strange stuff going on but didn't realise it was slowing down the game as well.
