Help selecting a perfect laptop

id look for something around the $1200 range from msi or asus, the 670mx is great but a 660m will work or i personally like the msi with the A10 and 7970m for the high end gpu but i think the a10 bottlenecks the gpu so maybe would go for the i7+660.

Also i know asus has many laptops with the same cpu and gpu but different configs for hdds, ssds, ram etc than can differ the costs but keeping its gaming performance

Just noticed and remembered that amd and nvidia are releasing alot of their newer gpus the 8000 from amd and 700 from nvidia as mobile and u can buy them alrdy and amd has put their new gen apus richland in laptops as well newegg has the msi with 7970m with the new a10 5750

i like that one because it has the best in amd mobile graphics, the A10 is what keeps the cost low but it should game no problem, and comparing the a10/7970m against a i7/660, the performance to cost ratio is leaning towards the A10 even though theres a cpu bottleneck, and if u look at the newer one thats 1299, u get a newer and better A10 with a higher clock speed, im not too sure if its worth $200 for the newer cpu but either is good id say just for the 7970m gpu

He says he likes it but he needs the biggest screen possible for his current setup, are there any on the market around the same performance/price with a bigger screen?

This one might be more what he is looking for http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834227049

17.3 inch display with a 1080P resolution.
Core i7 3630QM CPU
16GB DDR3 1600MHz Memory 750GB HDD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX w/ 4GB vRam
Windows 8 64-Bit
6x Blu-ray Reader/8x DVD+/-RW Drive

The price is definitely right on this machine at $1,329.99 and it's a better balance of GPU to CPU power than the one with the A10 APU and 7970m GPU. It basically has everything your friend needs and it's not too expensive either.

For comparison the most expensive gaming laptop on newegg is $2799.99 and it only performs just a tiny bit better in games than the one I just showed you.
