PSU Compatibility with crossfire

Hi, I recently enquired in another thread in the graphics section, whether or not my Seasonic M12II 850W Power Supply would be sufficient to run my crossfired 7970 6gb ghz edition vapor-x cards.

I received a resounding yes, even with an overclock running.

My parts have finally arrived, and after countless fuck arounds. My computer was in the shop to be built.

I received a phonecall saying that my powersupply was not compatible with crossfire.

I immediately got on the internet and found this list:

http://sites.amd.com/us/game/products/certified/Pages/certified-power-supplies.aspx

Stating that my power supply is crossfire supported.

I called back and he told me that because my graphics cards have two 8-pin slots, rather than one six-pin and one eight-pin (because they are such big cards, or new cards or some shit) my power supply could not run them and I needed to order another.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Is he wrong? Is he right? Would an adapter of some sort solve this problem?

If that PSU is indeed incompatible, will this one solve the problem:

Thanks in advance.

The Seasonic M12 II 850 has 4 x 6+2 pin connectors. You may have an idiot building your computer. A 6+2 pin connector is just like it sounds like. Either an 8 pin or a 6 pin when you remove the 2 pin addition.

You might be better off building it yourself.

6+2 pin on the right.

Thanks so much, thanks to the info I received here I was able to call the shop, cause enough drama that the guy who was building my computer stormed out, and now the manager is completing my build. Fingers crossed he hasn't fucked up anything else important. A million thankyous.

In a bit late, here, but I checked the Newegg page (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151108) and it says that your PSU has the proper number of connectors.
Glad that you got that imbecile off your build.

Lol. Glad we could help. Just goes to show you that just because someone works at a computer shop don't mean they know jack!

It would have helped if he'd known jack :p Jack basically decided on my build!

I was going to say "I resemble that remark", but you beat me to it. :p
