'Non Standard' graphics card resolutions

I have an HP desktop with an Nvidia GT230 graphics card. The HP Quickspecs for the card list (amongst others) 2048X1536 and 2560X1600 resolutions and dual link DVI.
Nvidia WHQL 314.22 lists 2560X1600 @ 60Hz as it's maximum but again doesn't 2560X1440 against the 230M specs.
I'm looking to purchase a 2560X1440 27" display - will it work (via DL DVI) with the GT230?
I would imagine one could set the resolution as 'custom' if need be.
Any advice appreciated as I know little about the graphics card/monitor side of things.

It was my guess that as the resolution is lower than the max then it should work but always best to double check - just that this resolution isn't exactly 'unknown' hence the confusion.
