hi i want to change the processor of my mercury pig31u mother board its now having p4 processor please sugeest me a good replacement for playing hd full hd videos and games pls reply thanks in advance

Unfortunately, the specs page for your motherboard does not provide a full CPU support list. While the best processor for Socket 775 is the Intel Q9650, whether or not it actually will work is a guess.

For full HD videos and games, you're looking at discrete graphics card (and possibly a new power supply).

Given the cost of these two (or three) upgrades, I'd probably recommend starting from scratch and building new.

Edit: based on this web site, the best processor the G31 chipset can take is the Intel Core2Quad Q6700.

What P4 do you have? That board acording to google will take LGA775 socket for latest Intel Core 2 Quad/ Core 2 Duo / Pentium (Dual Core inside) / Pentium D / Pentium 4 / Celeron D processor.


Your best bet is a Core 2 Quad in the fastest speed you can find, good luck with that as not to many stores have lga775 cpus laying around anymore, your best bet is to find one on ebay.
