CPU Cooling Solution

I currently have the Corsair H50. Am looking to upgrade to something better. Unfortunately I don't believe the NH-D14 will fit me. Do any of you extremely helpful people have any other suggestions for me? :-)

  1. Are you planning on overclocking? And what case do you have?
  2. If you are into water cooling then there are plenty of other larger CLCs to choose from, including some 140mm and 280mm options now. Or you can try your hand at a custom water cooling loop which will be much better, but there is a bit of a learning curve to it.

A large air cooler is not necessarily going to net you much in the way of better performance. Air or water cooled the main determining factor of your actual peak temperature is going to be your room temperature. If you live in a warm climate and want better performance then the only real option is to crank the AC up in your room and make sure that your computer can breathe freely.

Out of curiosity what kinds of temps are you getting, and what is your setup? With more details we may be able to help you out better.

Ok and do you have a budget?
  5. The weak point in the H50 is really the radiator. You can buy a new radiator and refit it instead of the old one.
I have cooled an I7 3770k and an old amd hd5770 that way by opening the closed loop.

Nope. No budget. Well of course I dont want to spend out the ass for just a new cooler but I guess a couple hundred wont be bad.
  7. Personally I use the CM Hyper 212 EVO, I think it's definitely the best price/performance air cooler, and as for water cooling, if you like the H50 but want an upgrade then I would suggest the H100
  8. For the highest quality air coolers go Noctua. Their NH-C14 gives max cooling with more room. Also they have a new pair of coolers, the NH-U12S and NH-U14S. These fit better and have great cooling and fit better.
