Hi,
I have a question about corsair hx 850 power supply.
I built a computer.
msi 970a g46
2x4gb corsair ram
amd sempron 145
sapphire radeon 5850
corsair hx 850w
Usb 16gb boot stick with xubuntu 12.10
usb mouse and usb keyboard

When I start up the system it works nicely and stable.
I wanted to connect a hard drive(seagate barracuda 40gb ide/pata its working just got it from friend working pc)and when I want to switch on there is nothing. Sometimes a little spin on the cpu-gpu-psu fans, but just 1 second and gone.
Does anyone experienced something similar? What could be the problem?
I think a minimum requirement of mobo-cpu-gpu-mouse-keyboard-memory-hdd shouldn't be a problem for this psu.
Any idea and help would be appreciated.

Most likely a problem with the drive not the power supply, it may have been damaged when it was removed from the other system.

1) Don't double post.

2) Agree there is probably something wrong with the drive or ribbon cable.

3) What are you trying to do with this system? That PSU is grossly expensive and overpowered for the rest of the build. Could have spend about half as much on a PSU and gotten a new SATA HDD (that IDE drive has got to be about 10 years old - small wonder it was working at all).
